Renewable Marine Energy is very sensitive to the metocean conditions. Commissioning and decommissioning tidal current turbines is obviously a subject for Weather Downtime studies. Even during exploitation, subsea turbines can be affected by a too high level of swell. Therefore a Weather downtime study based on long time series can estimate the probable level of uptime which is to be expected from each location.
